During the 1940s, the children, who were U.S. citizens, picked fruit alongside Braceros both locally in the San Gabriel Valley, and as migrant workers throughout California’s Central Valley. This photo shows Daniel Fernandez Martinez of Claremont and two of his nine children picking Kadota figs in Planada, California.
