Original Caption: Lonely, and sick. This bracero sits on his bunk at a makeshift camp in asparagus fields near Stockton, Calif. reluctant to seek aid for his illness because he is fearful would mean that he would be returned to Mexico. (A, #19)About 20 miles from Stockton, in the heart of the asparagus fields was a camp for braceros. Temperature was in the 90's and this elderly bracero felt ill. He was sitting on his bunk without looking for any help. (B, #26)
